Add Slides to Virtual Learning Materials
The final step - embedding the slide into the course itself. This happens entirely inside Moodle, using the "Embed an OMERO slide" tool, and builds directly on the previous step: the Subject account you'll pick here is the course-specific OMERO account the slide was just moved to (see Prepare the Slide for View on the VLE).
Finding the tool
In your Moodle course, click More in the row of tabs near the top, then Embed an OMERO slide. If it's not there, either you don't have editing rights in this course, or it hasn't been enabled yet.
Step 1 – Load the slide
Pick the Subject account matching the course account the slide now belongs to, enter the slide's Image ID, and choose a layout (slide with text alongside it, or slide only). Click Load slide - you get the real, live OMERO viewer, embedded directly in the page.
Step 2 – Write your text and add view-links (optional)
Type your commentary next to the slide, pan/zoom to a spot worth pointing out, select the relevant word or phrase in your text, and click Insert view link - that text becomes clickable, jumping the slide to that exact view when a student clicks it. Repeat for as many views as you like.
Step 3 – Set the opening view (optional)
Pan/zoom to where you want the embed to open by default, then click Set as opening view.
Step 4 – Generate and paste
Click Generate embed HTML, then Copy to clipboard, and paste it into a Label, Page, or Book chapter using Moodle's normal text editor. Save.
Students never need their own OMERO account - everything runs through the shared subject account behind the scenes, gated entirely by their normal Moodle enrolment.
